D id I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?

L’ho forse concepito io tutto questo popolo? L’ho forse dato alla luce io, che tu mi dica: “Portalo sul tuo seno”, come la balia porta il bimbo lattante, fino al paese che tu hai promesso con giuramento ai suoi padri?
