W ail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen, Because the mighty trees are ruined. Wail, O oaks of Bashan, For the thick forest has come down.

Vaită-te, chiparosule, căci cedrul a căzut, cei falnici au fost distruşi! Văitaţi-vă, stejari din Başan, căci pădurea cea deasă a fost doborâtă!
