A nd when all the captains of the armies who were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and the poorest of the land who had not been carried away captive to Babylon,

Phàm những người đầu đảng còn giữ chốn thôn quê cùng thủ hạ mình nghe rằng vua Ba-by-lôn đã lập Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, làm tổng đốc trong đất, và nghe vua đã giao phó cho người những đờn ông, đờn bà, trẻ con, cùng những kẻ rất nghèo khó trong đất, chưa bị đem qua Ba-by-lôn làm phu tù.
