T hen the Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed seven thousand charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers of the Syrians, and killed Shophach the commander of the army.

And the Syrians fled from before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and slew Shophach the captain of the host.
