A nd some from Manasseh defected to David when he was going with the Philistines to battle against Saul; but they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines sent him away by agreement, saying, “He may defect to his master Saul and endanger our heads.”

Anche da Manasse alcuni passarono a Davide, quando questi andò con i Filistei a combattere contro Saul; ma essi non furono di alcun aiuto ai Filistei, perché i principi dei Filistei, dopo essersi consultati, rimandarono Davide, dicendo: «Egli passerebbe dalla parte del suo signore Saul a prezzo delle nostre teste».
