E ntonces Saúl dijo a David: “Mira, te daré por mujer a Merab, mi hija mayor, con tal que me seas hombre valiente y pelees las batallas del Señor.” Pues Saúl se decía: “No será mi mano contra él, sino sea contra él la mano de los Filisteos.”

Saul said to David, “Behold, my elder daughter Merab, I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight Yahweh’s battles.” For Saul said, “Don’t let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him.”
