P ero los hombres de Israel respondieron a los hombres de Judá: “Nosotros tenemos diez partes en el rey, y por eso también tenemos más derecho que ustedes sobre David. ¿Por qué, pues, nos han despreciado? ¿No fue nuestro consejo el primero que se dio para hacer volver a nuestro rey?” Pero las palabras de los hombres de Judá fueron más duras que las palabras de los hombres de Israel.

Then the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, We have ten shares in the king; and we have more right to David than you have. Why then did you despise and ignore us? Were we not the first to speak of our bringing back our king? But the words of the men of Judah were more violent than the charges of the men of Israel.
