W hen he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell off the seat backward beside the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for he was old and heavy. Thus he judged Israel forty years.

Quando ele fez menção da arca de Deus, Eli caiu da cadeira para trás, junto ã porta, e quebrou-se-lhe o pescoço, e morreu, porquanto era homem velho e pesado. Ele tinha julgado a Israel quarenta anos.
