B ut resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

Withstand him; be firm in faith, knowing that the same ( identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
