T he land mourns and pines away, Lebanon is shamed and withers; Sharon is like a desert plain, And Bashan and Carmel lose their foliage.

الأرْضُ تَنُوحُ وَتَذبُلُ. لُبنانُ خَجِلَ وَذَبُلَ. سَهلُ شارُونَ يُشبِهُ الصَّحراءَ. وَباشانُ وَالكَرمَلُ يَنفُضانِ أوراقَهُما الذّابِلَةَ وَيَمُوتانِ.
