T herefore through this Jacob’s iniquity will be forgiven; And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; When Asherim and incense altars will not stand.

Only on this condition shall the iniquity of Jacob (Israel) be forgiven and purged, and this shall be the full fruit for taking away his sin: that should make all the stones of the altars like chalk stones crushed to pieces, so that the Asherim and the sun-images shall not remain standing or rise again.
