H e defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.

كَما هَزَمَ داوُدُ المُوآبِيِّينَ. فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ، أجْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى الاسْتِلقاءِ عَلَى الأرْضِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَخْدَمَ حَبلاً لِيُوَزِّعَهُم ضِمْنَ صُفُوفٍ. فَقَتَلَ صَفّينِ مِنْ صُفوفِ الرِّجالِ، وَأُبْقِيَ عَلَى حياةِ مَنْ كانُوا فِي الصَّفِّ الثّالِثِ. وَهَكَذا، أصْبَحَ المُوآبِيُّونَ خَدَمَ داوُدَ يَدْفَعُونَ لَهُ الجِزْيَةَ.
