N a, tenei ia te mea nei kia korerotia kinotia ia, e mea ana, Kihai ahau i kite tohu he wahine tau tamahine; na ko nga tohu enei o te wahinetanga o taku kotiro. Na me hora e raua te kakahu ki te aroaro o nga kaumatua o te pa.

and, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
