H eoi ka puta atu tenei kupu ki nga hoa, e kore taua akonga e mate: otiia kihai a Ihu i mea ki a ia, E kore ia e mate; engari, Ki te pai ahau kia noho tonu ia kia tae mai ra ano ahau, hei aha mau?

Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
