H e rite ki nga tamariki e noho ana i te kainga hokohoko, e karanga ana ki a ratou ano, e mea ana, Whakatangi noa matou i te putorino ki a koutou, a kahore koutou i kanikani; aue noa matou ki a koutou, na, kahore koutou i tangi.

They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.’
