K i te mea te matekai to te whenua, he mate uruta, ki te mea he ngingio, he koriri, he mawhitiwhiti ranei, he whe ranei; ki te whakapaea whenua o o ratou pa; ki te pa mai he whiu, he mate turoro ranei:

If there should be famine in the land, or if there should be pestilence, if there should be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillars; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatever affliction or sickness there may be;
