N a ka hongi a Ihowa i roto i tona ngakau, E kore ahau e kanga ano i te oneone a muri ake nei mo nga mahi a te tangata; otiia he kino nga tokonga ake o te ngakau o te tangata, o tona taitamarikitanga ake ano; e kore ano hoki ahau e patu i nga mea ora katoa a muri ake nei, e penei me tenei meatanga aku.

When the Lord smelled the pleasing odor, the Lord said to Himself, I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the imagination (the strong desire) of man’s heart is evil and wicked from his youth; neither will I ever again smite and destroy every living thing, as I have done.
