K aua e tomo, e toku wairua, ki to raua runanga; kaua e huihuia, e toku kororia, ki to raua whakaminenga: i patu tangata hoki raua i a raua e riri ana, a he hikaka no raua i kopa ai te kau.

Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox.
