A ka mea matou ki toku ariki, He papa ano to matou, he koroheke, me tetahi tama o tona koroheketanga, he mea iti; kua mate hoki tona tuakana, a ko ia anake i mahue o nga tamariki a tona whaea, e aroha ana hoki tona papa ki a ia.

We said to my lord, ‘We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.’
