D a aber die Leute zu Asdod sahen, daß es so zuging, sprachen sie: Laßt die Lade des Gottes Israels nicht bei uns bleiben; denn seine Hand ist zu hart über uns und unserm Gott Dagon.

And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us; for his hand is severe upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
