W as soll ich aus dir machen, Ephraim? Soll ich dich schützen, Israel? Soll ich nicht billig ein Adama aus dir machen und dich wie Zeboim zurichten? Aber mein Herz ist andern Sinnes, meine Barmherzigkeit ist zu brünstig,

Come potrei abbandonarti, o Efraim, o lasciarti in balia di altri, o Israele? Come potrei renderti come Admah, o ridurti come Tseboim? Il mio cuore si commuove dentro di me, le mie compassioni si infiammano tutte.
