W arum lässest du uns, HERR, irren von deinen Wegen und unser Herz verstocken, daß wir dich nicht fürchten? Kehre wieder um deiner Knechte willen, um der Stämme willen deines Erbes.

Why, O Jehovah, hast thou made us to err from thy ways, hast hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
