D avid aber ging heraus zu ihnen, und antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Kommt ihr im Frieden zu mir und mir zu helfen, so soll mein Herz mit euch sein; kommt ihr aber mit List und mir zuwider zu sein, da doch kein Frevel an mir ist, so sehe der Gott unsrer Väter darein und strafe es.

And David went out to meet them, and answered and said to them, “If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if to betray me to my enemies, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look and bring judgment.”
