A m siebenten Tage aber starb das Kind. Und die Knechte Davids fürchteten sich ihm anzusagen, daß das Kind tot wäre; denn sie gedachten: Siehe, da das Kind noch lebendig war, redeten wir mit ihm, und er gehorchte unsrer Stimme nicht; wie viel mehr wird er sich wehe tun, so wir sagen: Das Kind ist tot.

On the seventh day, the child died. David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he didn’t listen to our voice. How will he then harm himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?”
