L orsque le jour fut venu, ils ne reconnurent point la terre; mais, ayant aperçu un golfe avec une plage, ils résolurent d'y pousser le navire, s'ils le pouvaient.

When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible.
