J e suis attentif, et j'écoute: Ils ne parlent pas comme ils devraient; Aucun ne se repent de sa méchanceté, Et ne dit: Qu'ai-je fait? Tous reprennent leur course, Comme un cheval qui s'élance au combat.

I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.
