J 'ai livré mon dos à ceux qui me frappaient, Et mes joues à ceux qui m'arrachaient la barbe; Je n'ai pas dérobé mon visage Aux ignominies et aux crachats.

I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
