S aul disse al suo scudiero: «Sfodera la tua spada e trafiggimi con essa, non vengano questi incirconcisi a trafiggermi e a farsi beffe di me». Ma il suo scudiero non volle, perché era tutto spaventato. Allora Saul prese la spada e vi si gettò sopra.

Saul said to his armor-bearer, Draw your sword and thrust me through, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse and mock me. But his armor-bearer would not, for he was terrified. So Saul took a sword and fell upon it.
