P erciò così dice l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele: Io avevo dichiarato che la tua casa e la casa di tuo padre avrebbero sempre camminato davanti a me; ma ora l'Eterno dice: Lungi da me tal cosa; poiché io onoro quelli che mi onorano ma quelli che mi disprezzano saranno pure disprezzati.

Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
