« Allora di' Scibboleth»; se quegli diceva «Sibboleth», perché non poteva pronunciare correttamente, essi lo afferravano e lo uccidevano presso i guadi del Giordano. In quel tempo perirono quarantaduemila uomini di Efraim.

They said to him, Then say Shibboleth; and he said, Sibboleth, for he could not pronounce it right. Then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time 42, 000 of the Ephraimites.
