O ra le promesse furono fatte ad Abrahamo e alla sua discendenza. La Scrittura non dice: «E alle discendenze» come se si trattasse di molte, ma come di una sola: «E alla tua discendenza», cioè Cristo.

Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
