P rima di quel tempo non c'era salario per uomo né salario per le bestie; non c'era alcuna sicurezza per chi andava e veniva a motivo del nemico, io stesso infatti mettevo tutti gli uomini gli uni contro gli altri.

For before these days There were no wages for man nor any hire for beast; There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in; For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.
