H o aperto al mio diletto, ma il mio diletto si era ritirato e se n'era andato. Il mio cuore veniva meno mentr'egli parlava. L'ho cercato, ma non l'ho trovato; ho chiamato, ma non mi ha risposto.

Und da ich meinem Freund aufgetan hatte, war er weg und hingegangen. Meine Seele war außer sich, als er redete. Ich suchte ihn, aber ich fand ihn nicht; ich rief, aber er antwortete mir nicht.
