E gli aveva allevato Hadassah, cioè Ester, la figlia di suo zio, perché ella non aveva né padre né madre. La fanciulla era avvenente di forma e di bell'aspetto; alla morte del padre e della madre Mardocheo la prese come sua figlia.

And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
