P ero David volvió a jurar, diciendo: Tu padre sabe bien que he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, y ha dicho: “Que no lo sepa Jonatán para que no se entristezca.” Pero ciertamente, vive el Señor y vive tu alma, que apenas hay un paso entre mí y la muerte.

But David answered, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes. He has said, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, because it would fill him with sorrow.’ But it is true. As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is only a step between me and death.”
