T herefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.

“Agora, Senhor, Deus de Israel, cumpre a outra promessa que fizeste a teu servo Davi, meu pai, quando disseste: ‘Você nunca deixará de ter, diante de mim, um descendente que se assente no trono de Israel, se tão-somente os seus descendentes tiverem o cuidado de, em tudo, andarem segundo a minha vontade, como você tem feito’.
