W hen Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see ye to it.

Allora Pilato, vedendo che non otteneva nulla, ma che anzi il tumulto cresceva sempre piú, prese dell'acqua e si lavò le mani davanti alla folla, dicendo: «Io sono innocente del sangue di questo giusto; pensateci voi».
