N ow, therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy slave David, my father, that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel, under the condition that thy sons keep their way, walking in my law, as thou hast walked before me.

“Agora, Senhor, Deus de Israel, cumpre a outra promessa que fizeste a teu servo Davi, meu pai, quando disseste: ‘Você nunca deixará de ter, diante de mim, um descendente que se assente no trono de Israel, se tão-somente os seus descendentes tiverem o cuidado de, em tudo, andar segundo a minha lei, como você tem feito’.
