f or he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, who had smitten him, and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them; therefore, I will also sacrifice to them that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

pues Ajaz ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían derrotado, y dijo: «Ya que los dioses de Siria ayudan a sus reyes, yo también voy a ofrecerles sacrificios para que me ayuden.» Pero esos dioses fueron la ruina de Ajaz y la de todo Israel.
