A nd when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly and smote him there under the fifth rib that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

Quando Abner retornou a Hebrom, Joabe o chamou à parte, na porta da cidade, sob o pretexto de falar-lhe em particular, e ali mesmo o feriu no estômago. E Abner morreu por ter derramado o sangue de Asael, irmão de Joabe.
