A nd Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac, his son; and he took the fire in his hand and the knife; and they both went together.

Abraham took the wood for the burnt gift and had Isaac carry it. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. And the two of them walked on together.
