و َلَمّا قَوِيَ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ، جَنَّدُوا الكَنْعانِيِّينَ عَلَى العَمَلِ عَبِيداً لَدَيهِمْ، لَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَطرُدُوهُمْ.

When Israel became strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor but did not utterly drive them out.
