ك انَ أبْناءُ الملِكِ ما يَزالُونَ في طَرِيقِهِم إلَى داخِلِ المَدِينَةِ. لَكِنَّ الملكَ داوُدَ تلقّى خبراً جاءَ فِيهِ: «قَتَلَ أبْشالُومَ أبْناءَ الملِكِ جَمِيعاً! ولَمْ يَبْقَ واحِدٌ مِنْهُم حيًّا.»
