ع ِشْتُ هَكَذا: كانَتْ قُوَّتِي تُمْتَصُّ مِنَ الحَرِّ نَهاراً، وَمِنَ البَرْدِ لَيلاً. وَلَمْ أذُقْ طَعْمَ النَّوْمِ حِرْصاً عَلَى مَواشِيكَ.

There I was! In the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep departed from my eyes.
