A nd the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from the Arnon even unto the Jabbok and unto the Jordan; and now restore it peaceably.

Împăratul fiilor lui Amon a răspuns solilor lui Iefta:,, Pentrucă Israel, cînd s'a suit din Egipt, a pus mîna pe ţara mea, dela Arnon pînă la Iaboc şi Iordan. Dă-mi -o înapoi acum de bună voie.``
