w ho was one who, for a certain tumult which had taken place in the city, and murder, had been cast into prison.

وَكانَ باراباسُ قَدْ أُلقِيَ فِي السِّجنِ بِسَبَبِ تَمَرُّدٍ تَسَبَّبَ فِيهِ فِي المَدِينَةِ، وَلِأنَّهُ قاتِلٌ.
