t o make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that is to be eaten and the beast that is not to be eaten.

وَذَلِكَ لِكَي يُمَيِّزَ الشَّعْبُ بَينَ النَّجِسِ وَالطّاهِرِ مِنَ الحَيواناتِ، وَما يُمكِنُ أكلُهُ مِنْها وَما لا يُمكِنُ أكلُهُ.
