A nd Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rab-shakeh, Speak, we pray thee, to thy servants in Syriac, for we understand it; and speak not to us in the Jewish in the ears of the people that are upon the wall.

Allora Eliachim, Sebna e Ioa dissero a Rabsachè: «Ti prego, parla ai tuoi servi in lingua aramaica, poiché noi la comprendiamo; non parlarci in lingua giudaica, poiché il popolo che sta sulle mura ascolta».
