M y father made me swear, saying, Behold, I die; in my grave which I have dug myself in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. And now, let me go up, I pray thee, that I may bury my father; and I will come again.

«Tatăl meu m-a pus să jur cerându-mi ca, atunci când va muri, să-l îngrop în mormântul pe care şi l-a săpat în Canaan. De aceea dă-mi voie să mă duc să-l îngrop acolo pe tatăl meu, după care mă voi întoarce.»“
