A nd Saul said to David, Behold, my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight Jehovah's battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.

掃 羅 對 大 衛 說 ： 我 將 大 女 兒 米 拉 給 你 為 妻 ， 只 要 你 為 我 奮 勇 ， 為 耶 和 華 爭 戰 。 掃 羅 心 裡 說 ： 我 不 好 親 手 害 他 ， 要 藉 非 利 士 人 的 手 害 他 。
